Just as Tai Chi varies greatly in practice and play, so too do Tai Chi Instructors and students.

With that in mind, you’ll find that each center while the same, will also offer uniquely different opportunities for your Tai Chi Study.

The Queensland Franchise was started in 1984 by National Director of Training, National Chief Instructor and Tai Chi Senior Master Rod Ferguson – who continues to run Queensland operations today.


Rod manages all aspects of the Queensland branch, and conducts monthly Instructor Training, to ensure all Academy Instructors have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Tai Chi arts & philosphies. This training also educates Instructors to be aware of safety considerations and only use approved Academy exercises and sets, and how to nurture their students to enable them to experience the wonderful physical and mental benefits of playing Tai Chi.

The following are aspects of what the Academy can provide for you, from beginner to advanced student.

Public Classes– Day and evening classes are conducted regularly in most metro and country areas, with classes for beginners through to more advanced levels.  Each course usually consists of an 8-10 week term of one hour classes.  The Tai Chi form itself is taught over a period of 12-18 months.  There are also various Qigong and weapons sets taught in most areas.

Specialised Programs – and Private classes can be organised for your company, organisation, or on an individual basis, as per your requirements.

Seminars/Workshops – The Academy offers in most areas and some States weekend seminars.  These are conducted by Grandmaster Gary Khor or AATC senior personnel.  The Academy can arrange speakers or presenters for your organisation’s seminars, workshops, or meetings.  Demonstrations of Tai Chi can often be arranged for your special event.
