Grandmaster Khor and Taoist Master Zhao

Master Zhao grew up learning the traditional wisdom of the Taoists sages, almost without knowing that these skills were not widely known.

Master Zhao was a Local Martial Art champion, then a National All-round Champion before he returned home to retreat to the quietude of Wudang to develop his ‘internal art’ skills and to live the life of the ‘Tao’ on the mountain.

The Academy’s focus of 2012 will be on each individual – in nurturing and cultivating their own health, according to the Taoist way of life.

Taoism is not a religion; it is a philosophy, a way of life. It is a river. ‘Tao’ is the Chinese word for ‘way’ i.e. the natural order of things. It is a flow that goes through every living thing and object, as well as the entire universe. When things are in balance it is possible to be in harmony with the ‘Tao’.

The most common graphic representation of the ‘Tao’ is the circular ‘Yin / Yang’ figure. It represents the balance of complementary opposites. When they are equally present, all is calm. When one is outweighed by the other, there is need to return to order, i.e. balance / equilibrium. The Yin and Yang are a model that are followed, an aid that allows each person to contemplate the state of balance in their lives.

JOIN A CLASS - NOW!

Now is the time to take positive action to ensure your long-term health and well-being! It is up to each one of us to look after our own well-being, and find at least 30 minutes to move our body each day! What better way to exercise than to include mindful meditation and stress relief along with the physical movement of our body.

Avoid long periods of inactivity – Remember:- If motion is lotion, no matter how it’s applied, the important thing is to just keep moving!!!

Active Health Insurance! Remember regular exercise is the best prescription you can take to maintain – and improve – your health. Stress is also the cause of so much of our illness today, so combine relaxation and exercise. Do some Tai Chi or Qigong – “Moving Medication” – you can’t afford to neglect your health!

Follow to the links below and find the closest to you

New South Wales

Queensland

If there is not a class near you, you can still get the benefits by practicing at home. Its never been easier.

In the words of Professor Karim Khan editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.

“Surely limiting our daily sitting/lying to just 23.5 hours: is not too ambitious”?
And “Physical activity is a legitimate medical therapy; when will we treat it as the magic bullet and polypill it is? Avoiding inactivity is also crucial! Sedentary behaviour itself is an independent risk factor for chronic disease”.

Just do it

Research continues to show the benefits of playing Tai Chi and Qigong for:- Health, Relaxation, Fitness, Strength, Flexibility, Recuperation, Stress Control, Balance & Stability, Injury Prevention, Pain Relief, Energy, Falls Prevention, Arthritis, Back Pain, Diabetes, Cardiovascular, Rehabilitation, Better Breathing, Boosting the Immune System, Vitality and Wellbeing… and the list goes on!

On the last Saturday of April each year at 10 am, beginning in the Earth’s earliest time zone, a peaceful soothing event will unfold as it blooms around the Earth throughout the entire day–time zone by time zone. Gently and effortlessly the world will breathe together in a Tai Chi & Qigong relay of calm.

Click for details;
Sydney Tai Chi; Newcastle Tai Chi; Brisbane Tai Chi; Gold Coast Tai Chi; Toowoomba Tai Chi; Bundaberg Tai Chi; Rockhampton Tai Chi ; Cairns Tai Chi;

“Wrapping our precious planet in a wave of healing consciousness, of energy or Qi. Each year this image of people coming together across racial, ethnic, religious, and geopolitical boundaries . . . to breathe together . . . is a powerful vision of our world’s future.

By introducing a consciousness of calm, healing, and connection, and surrounding our planet with it year after year, we may in some imperceptible and delicate way help move our species’ future toward global connection and the empathy and compassion that this awareness cultivates.” (Bill Douglas, founder of World Tai Chi Day)

On this day we can become one with tens of thousands in hundreds of cities in over 70 nations where World Tai Chi & Qigong Day and World Healing Day events are being held

Thank you for your part in making this spectacular global event successful. We look forward to being a part of this wave of global Qi as it passes through our time zone.

There are 4 purposes for staging this historic event:-

To educate the world to the profound implications Tai Chi & Qigong can offer our personal, social and world health.

To thank Chinese culture for providing this powerful health science to the world.

To improve world relations by joining Tai Chi & Qigong practitioners around the world on this World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, to promote and celebrate a healthier world.

To provide a mighty example of how the emerging power of the Internet can be used to promote world cooperation and health, since most of the organising of this event is done via the Internet through the web page www.worldtaichiday.org Playing Tai Chi & Qigong is about personal empowerment and the internet is a powerful enabler.

When co-presenting at the International Tai Chi Symposium in Nashville USA, Bill said “Rod has pioneered working with state and local governments to expand Tai Chi extensively into Australian senior and health care. He’s created a model that can be emulated worldwide”.

Health, Prosperity, Longevity and Good Luck for the year ahead

It is almost Chinese New Year – the year of the Water Dragon, year 4710. The lunar new year on which it is based begins on Monday 23rd January.
In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represented the emperor and power. Today, it is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. May the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to everyone. Take positive steps to ‘Yang Sheng’ ~ Nurture your Life-Force in this Dragon Year!

Our new Tai Chi classes are starting at the end of January.

I hope to see you at one of these events as I tour the country and tour China!

I’m very excited about getting off to a busy start in March presenting workshops in Drummoyne, Newcastle, Gosford and Cairns. Actually the workshops continue throughout the year including Tai Chi Flute and Tai Chi Pole in Sydney as we develop new curricula to pass on these interesting and beneficial arts.

The focus of 2012 will be on the individual nurturing and cultivating their own health. This exciting year will culminate in the visit of Master Zhou direct from Wudang Mt China, to present at our Brisbane and Sydney Seminars. Make sure you get in early for the Sydney seminar as our Collaroy venue books out quickly.

China Tours:
April: The Tibet – Terracotta Warriors – Beijing & Great Wall – Wudang tour and
October: The Wudang – Confucius Hometown – Taoist Peak – Shanghai tour.
Every time we visit China we learn and see and experience so much that it never ceases to amaze me!

With the excitement of the coming year, may 2012 be a vibrant year filled with great challenges, achievements, health benefits and the discovery and experience of many varied new skills for all our Tai Chi Students
